A very good proposition for a several-hour trip, without technical difficulties, to the most popular high mountain pasture in Poland. The surroundings of Hala Gąsienicowa and Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy are the High Tatras with their soaring granite crags and rugged walls. In Hala Gąsienicowa there is a very large junction of tourist trails , which makes this place particularly attractive for tourists planning longer trips to the peaks of the High Tatras.
Trail color: blue - yellow
Walking time: 5 h 20 min (entire loop)
The highest point: Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy 1,624 m above sea level.
We start the trip in Kuźnice, where we head east following the blue and green signs. At the crossroads of the trails, we choose the blue signs and follow this color until Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy. The entrance to Hala Gąsienicowa via this trail is gentler and more uniform than the route we will take. The path rises slightly through the forest, overcomes the Boczań hill, and then enters the Skupniów Upłazu ridge. At this point there are nice views of Wielki Kopieniec, Giewont and Kopa Kondracka. It is worth mentioning that from this place you can clearly see Babia Góra. The path leads us to Przełęcz Między Kopami (1 h 50 min). In the next 25 minutes we reach Hala Gąsienicowa and the mountain shelter located there. Hala Gąsienicowa is a unique viewing point - it offers a view of the majestic High Tatras, with the characteristic Żółta Turnia, the mighty ridge of Orla Perć and Kościelec. The whole is complemented by old huts that fit perfectly into the local landscape. Following the blue signs, within 40 minutes we will reach the shore of Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy along a comfortable stone walkway. Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy is the largest lake in the entire Gąsienicowa Valley, and owes its name to the cyanobacteria that inhabit its waters and the significant shading by the surrounding peaks. The view from the lake shore is even more magnificent than from the area around the shelter, because the surrounding mountains seem to be at your fingertips. We follow the same blue trail back to Przełęcz Między Kopami (1 h 05 min). At the pass, we choose the yellow trail towards Kuźnice, which leads through the Jaworzynka Valley. This trail is steeper than the approach through Boczań. The descent time to Kuźnice is 1 hour 20 minutes.
There is a third, frequently used route to Hala Gąsienicowa, which starts in Brzeziny. This is the easiest, although the longest, approach to the shelter at Hala Gąsienicowa. However, please remember that by choosing this route as the return route, we will end the trip in a different place than we started. Hala Gąsienicowa is a very large junction of tourist trails. Those interested have many options to extend the trip and conquer high peaks and passes. Although the hall itself is located on the border of the Western and High Tatras, most of the trails leading from it lead to the High Tatras. Directly from Hala Gąsienicowa, from the shelter, there are trails to Polana Waksmundzka and Gęsia Szyja, Przełęcz Krzyżne, Świnica, Przełęcz Liliowe and Kasprowy Wierch. From Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy there are trails to Granaty, Kozi Wierch, Kulczyński Żleb, Kozia Przełęcz, Zawrat Pass and Kościelec.
